Clinical Data Abstractor

Summary

Performs clinical data abstraction of specified data found in electronic medical records. Performs data entry into an Electronic Data Capture (EDC) system database under the oversight of the Abstraction Team Lead or designee. 

Job Details/Main Responsibilities

  • Reviews electronic medical records received from sites and enters data into EDC strictly following Data Abstraction Guidelines. 
  • Supports data abstraction deadlines set by management.
  • Ensures that source records are identified and tracked appropriately.
  • Responds to electronic case report form (eCRF) queries in a timely fashion.
  • Participates in team meetings/discussions as assigned.
  • Provides feedback on policy and procedures to limit data omissions and errors.
  • Supports with User Acceptance Testing (UAT), database activities and functionality of eCRF, if assigned.
  • Receives assigned role and study-based trainings as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.     

Education and Experience

High school diploma required. Formal science education, active science experience, or relevant clinical experience required. Experience with multiple databases (REDCap, INFORM, RAVE, TAO) etc is preferred.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Basic clinical study development and medical terminology knowledge. Strong critical thinking and attention to detail. Ability to effectively problem solve or troubleshoot problems as they arise. Good oral/written communication skills to communicate internally. Ability to understand and follow directions. Ability to work well as a team player.
